Police: Justin Timberlake Detained in New York for DWI Charges

Justin Timberlake, the pop music icon, was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated (DWI) in Sag Harbor, New York, as confirmed by local officials on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on Monday in the Long Island town, and details were shared by the Sag Harbor Police Department with various news outlets. Timberlake is set for arraignment at the Sag Harbor Justice Court on the eastern side of Long Island, according to a statement from the Suffolk County district attorney’s office.

While further specifics of the arrest, such as the reason for the traffic stop or the type of vehicle he was driving, were not disclosed, local media captured images of Timberlake near the police station on Tuesday. Edward Burke Jr., his attorney, has taken up his legal representation and spoke with the New York Post regarding the matter.

Timberlake, originally a member of the boy band NSYNC, is currently on a music tour. His website lists upcoming concerts in Chicago this weekend and two shows in New York City the following week. He is promoting his latest album, “Everything I Thought It Was,” released in March.

The Epoch Times reached out to Timberlake’s spokesperson for a statement on Tuesday, but the singer has not yet made any public comments about the incident.

Located in the upscale area of the Hamptons on the eastern part of Long Island, Sag Harbor is where the arrest took place. In New York state, a DWI charge can lead to jail time, loss of driving privileges, and significant fines. A blood alcohol content of 0.08 or higher constitutes grounds for a DWI charge under state law.

Justin Timberlake began his career as a child star on Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club alongside future stars like Britney Spears. He gained fame with NSYNC before launching a successful solo music career in 2002. Timberlake has also earned accolades as an actor in films such as “The Social Network” and “Friends With Benefits,” and he has won multiple Grammy and Primetime Emmy Awards.

Last year, Timberlake found himself in the spotlight following the release of Britney Spears’ memoir, which detailed their past relationship. In March, he released “Everything I Thought It Was,” his first album in six years, marking a return to his signature sound.

Over Father’s Day weekend, Timberlake took to Instagram to express his love and dedication to his sons, highlighting the joy and purpose they bring to his life.
