DJ killed on air in the Philippines.

In the Philippines, a radio host was fatally shot while on air during a live broadcast.

The journalist, Juan Jumalon, popularly known as DJ Johnny Walker, was attacked in his home studio, according to law enforcement.

President Marcos Jr expressed strong condemnation of the killing of the radio professional.

The National Union of Journalists in the Philippines reports that this is the fourth journalist murder since the inauguration of President Marcos Jr in June 2022.

The union remarked, “The violence is especially appalling as it took place within the confines of Jumalon’s residence, doubling as his broadcasting station.”

During the tragic event, Mr. Jumalon was streaming live on Facebook when an intruder accessed the studio and fired at him.

Local reports, referencing police sources, claim the individual sought permission to enter the booth under the pretense of making a crucial live announcement.

Authorities have obtained CCTV recordings from the vicinity.

Mr. Jumalon’s shows are typically broadcasted on the 94.7 Gold Mega Calamba FM Facebook page, which boasts approximately 2,400 followers.

Following the attack, his spouse rushed him to the hospital, where he was tragically declared dead upon arrival.

There were no known threats against Mr. Jumalon prior to this incident, according to police.

President Marcos Jr shared on platform X that he has directed law enforcement to “meticulously investigate the case to ensure the culprits face justice.”

Freedom House, a US-based organization, highlights the Philippines as among the most perilous nations for journalists.
