Gaza Reporter Dies with 42 Family Members, According to News Outlet

in a tragic turn of events, a Palestinian journalist and 42 of his relatives were reported killed by his employer, the Wafa news agency, as a result of an Israeli air strike on Gaza City.

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has indicated that the past month has seen the highest number of journalist deaths since they began keeping records in 1992, with at least 37 journalists killed since the onset of the war. The fatalities included 32 Palestinians, four Israelis, and one Lebanese.

While it remains to be confirmed if all the deceased journalists were reporting on the conflict at their time of death, the CPJ is including them in its count pending further investigation.

The IDF has been targeting Hamas in Gaza, stating that Hamas places military assets near civilians and journalists, increasing the risk of collateral damage during air strikes. The IDF has warned international news organizations of the risks of operating in the area.
