An Israeli airstrike on a home in Meiss al Jabal, a border village in southern Lebanon, resulted in the deaths of four family members on Sunday, according to civil defense and security officials.

The village of Meiss al Jabal has been heavily affected by frequent exchanges of fire between Israel and the Iranian-supported Hezbollah group since the conflict in Gaza began last October.

Following the incident, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for launching “tens” of Katyusha rockets at Kiryat Shmona, a town near the Lebanese border in northern Israel, as an act of retaliation.

While airstrikes and artillery fire have occurred intermittently, both Israel and Hezbollah have refrained from escalating to full-scale war.

Security sources in Lebanon report that Israeli airstrikes have killed over 250 Hezbollah fighters and 75 civilians in Lebanon since the conflict’s onset in October. Conversely, Israeli sources indicate that missile strikes from Lebanon have resulted in the deaths of approximately a dozen Israeli soldiers and several civilians.

Additionally, on October 7, Hamas militants executed a surprising cross-border raid from the Gaza Strip, killing 1,200 individuals and taking 252 hostages, as per Israeli records.

According to the health ministry in Gaza, over 34,600 Palestinians have died and more than 77,000 have been injured as a result of Israel’s retaliatory actions.
