Police Probe Shooting of Guard at Drake’s Toronto Residence

A security guard at Canadian rapper Drake’s Toronto home was shot early Tuesday morning, according to local authorities.

Toronto Police responded to the incident around 2 a.m. and discovered the guard with serious injuries; he was promptly taken to a hospital where he remains in serious condition, stated Inspector Paul Krawczyk during a press briefing.

The guard was stationed outside the property’s gate when the attack occurred. Although Krawczyk did not confirm whether Drake was at home during the shooting, he noted that the artist’s team is cooperating with the police investigation.

Journalists queried whether the shooting could be related to Drake’s recent public disputes with fellow artist Kendrick Lamar, but Krawczyk indicated that the motive remains unclear. He mentioned that several suspects are believed to be involved, fleeing the scene in a vehicle, and that video footage of the incident is currently under review.

Drake’s representatives have chosen not to comment on the matter. Known as one of the most successful recording artists, Drake is a five-time Grammy Award winner and was the first to surpass 200 million units sold, as recognized by the Recording Industry Association of America.

The recent escalation in lyrical exchanges between Drake and Lamar has captured significant attention, stirring discussions among fans, although representatives for Lamar have not commented on the incident.
